The Principal’s official statement on the passing of Mrs R. V. Elixer, Deputy Principal

It is with deepest sadness that Rhodes High School announces the passing of Mrs Rhona Elixer, Deputy Principal since 2001. Mrs Elixer was called home on Sunday 25 October 2015, incidentally also her 59th birthday.

In the 15 years that Mrs Elixer has been a prominent member of the RHS family, she has, without doubt, been the mother of the school: not always popular, but always firm, just and fair. Mrs Elixer came to Rhodes to take up the Deputy’s post after having been at Rylands High School for a number of years. She taught Afrikaans and also Life Orientation. In most recent times, she has held the portfolio of Head of Academics, and has done sterling work in this area. Mrs Elixer’s ability to approach difficult situations with calm and logic will surely be missed.

Mrs Elixer is survived by her husband Raymond, son Nathan, Daughter Tarryn and granddaughter Ava. We assure the family that we grieve deeply with them, and that our prayers will rise for them and her. We know that Mrs Elixer was a firm believer in her Lord. This she made no secret of! Today we pray that her dear soul will rest in sweetest peace, and rise to the awesome glory of the Lord whom she knew, loved and served.

Job 1: 21

‘… God gives, God takes. God’s name be ever blessed.’
